Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid superstar, is set to make his acting debut alongside Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, in a TV drama.
Ronaldo, the 2016 FIFA best male player, has signed up to appear in Hayat Koprusu, a new TV drama series about Syrian refugees.
Eyup Dirlik, director of the series, said that Ronaldo will make a cameo appearance in the drama that will feature actors and actresses from all over the world.
“The series is about the plight of a Syrian refugee family who flees the war-torn country, and what they go through.
“We will begin filming in the first week of April, the series is about the plight of a refugee family and what they go through.
“There will be appearances from actors and actresses from all over the world including Cristiano Ronaldo, Angelina Jolie and Nancy Ajram,” he said.
While promoting a menswear line in February last year, Ronaldo spoke of a potential acting career, saying: “Why not? It is not my objective at the moment, but I have had some invitations.
“It’s difficult as I have so many training sessions, games and competitions. But I would not close the door, it is something I like.”
Ronaldo has publicly commented on the plight of refugees, having posted a video message of hope to the children of Syria in December via Twitter.
In the video, Ronaldo said: “Hello, this is for children of Syria. We know that you have been suffering a lot. I am a very famous player, but you are true heroes.
“Don’t lose your hope. The world is with you. We care about you. I am with you.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is a five-time ‘Ballon d’Or’ winner.
